Overview


Level 4 is for those aspiring to achieve in fm and it is pitched at the same standard as HNC. Assignments at level 4 require you to describe and inform. 

This programme prepares an individual for supervising/managing a FM service, or a group of services, which can be labelled as ‘hard’ (estate/building management) or soft (catering/cleaning/administration/security). 

The Learner will be required to supervise/manage others in the workplace; to understand the contractual requirements and service delivery targets between their employing organisation and the client/customer in order to achieve service targets. 
The Learner will need to develop customer service skills and be proactive in finding solutions to problems.
 
We have a rolling programme for distance learners so the next available start date would be any time after you have viewed the induction slides. Inductions are part of student recruitment policy and will inform learners of everything they need to know about the course and about IWFM. We have made these available here. 

We will run this course as a distance learning programme as follows:
  • Introductory online session to take you through the induction slides and introduce you to all aspects of the course, proposed submission dates, discuss IWFM and progression
  • Delivery of the units follows in the next sessions which are restricted to 2 hours over zoom and other platforms.
  • Learner is then given two weeks to write up answers to the task based assessments.
  • Review written feedback in track changes and given feedback during the tutorial session
  • Follow up emails sent to prepare for 1st Draft
  • Delivery of second unit takes place following the tutorial. Time is also given to review written feedback in track changes on 1st and 2nd Drafts 
  • Further write up sessions organised for the second unit whilst reviewing written feedback in track changes on 2nd Draft 
  • Follow up emails on 2nd Draft and to prepare for Final submission
  • Marking of Final submission and completing Record of Evidence Form, submission to  IWFM for quality assurance
  • The above routine is followed until all units have been completed/
If there is a need for a re-submissions, then additional phone calls/emails on feedback is necessary as follows:
  • Follow up call as needed on 2 unachieved assessment criteria and to prepare for re-submission
  • Final review of re-submission and update of Record of Evidence Form
As someone working every day on fm related issues, you will achieve managerial and supervisory expertise at work and also in depth examples from the tutors who are FM practitioners. 
To achieve the Diploma, you will need to pass all 8 units at level 4, which leads to MIWFM status, subject to relevant work experience. See the iwfm website.  

You can of course opt for the Certificate and consider topping up to Diploma at a later stage.
 
These post nominals can be used after someone’s name as proof that they are a member of the leading facilities management body in UK and acquired this status by being assessed at level 4 to Diploma level.

IWFM registration period is two years. That is the time frame you have to complete the assessments. We will support you during this two year period, but any assessments that need to be marked beyond this period are chargeable.

This is a rewarding course and your job opportunities will be greatly enhance with membership through the qualification route.

Entry Requirements


At lease one year work experience in FM. No other formal qualifications necessary.
