BTEC in IT - Level 3
Extended Diploma (QCF)

180 Credits

Overview

This is the last chance to enrol on this version of the 'NO EXAMINATIONS' BTEC Level 3 course. BTEC IT QCF will be phased out in 2023 so this course is available for one more year.  The last date to enrol is 31st August 2023.
Choose from classroom/distance/online modes. Very flexible approach to gaining a qualification and encourage students to find the best way of learning to suit their style. See leaflet

This course is for those interested in Information Technology and who want to go to university. If you have one A level and want to top up with the equivalent points of another two, then the 120 credit Diploma is for you. It is made up of 12 units. There are six Business related units within the IT specification which may be useful for those who are still looking for the Business QCF course which has now been phased out. This course might be useful as bridging opportunity from business to IT.

This Diploma follows the normal BTEC guidelines with continuous assessment throughout the course in the form of assignments. These are submitted by email so can be done at home or during workshop sessions in class. They are assessed, graded and count towards your final overall grade. Results are known well before A level results day.

This is a major qualification route to university and competes with A level qualifications as being the main pre-university qualification route to an undergraduate degree.

This is run as a fast track course and can be completed in 9-12 months. For those who are motivated to enter university next year this is the route to take. There are 18 assignments to complete

Mature students may be exempt from this requirement on grounds of experience
